Research and Documentation Centre

Shanthi Sandesha Resource and Development Centre provides technical support in Research and documentation to people working with children and women using right based approach. The creation of a protective environment for women and children requires strong knowledge base of information for developing informed and strategic responses. Lack of data adversely affects planning, the provision of appropriate services and allocation of resources. Though working with women and children is not a new area in the development sector having various interventions through many NGOs and Government bodies; unfortunately there is lack of evidence based documentation on replicable models. Therefore Shanthi Sandesha provides consultancy, support and capacity building in documentation and research in matters related to Child Rights, Human rights, women empowerment, and organisational development. A special focus to strengthen child right protection system in Karnataka by building convergence with public and private partners for child protection is done through this centre. The following services are provided under this programme

  • Creating SOPs on issue specific intervention: SOP for Child Right Protection Functionaries – Specially, CWC, SJPU and DCPU
  • Undertaking research studies on certain issues which do not have secondary data for reference, mapping of resources is necessary.
  • Support DCPUs in situation analysis of children in the districts and prepare District child protection plan
  • Creating Training Modules for JJ Functionaries and NGOs working with women and children on specific issues like, child labour, Human trafficking, Women empowerment, gender sensitisation, Personality development, adolescent empowerment, child sexual abuse, child marriage, children clubs/ child parliament, village development committee, sustainable environment etc.
  • Comprehensive studies to assess the causes, nature and extent of specific child protection issues like trafficking and sexual exploitation of children; violence against children and children in conflict with the law.
  • Preparing Resource Directory
  • Preparing annual reports and intervention reports
  • Strategic plan documents and Project proposals
  • Access to information through E-groups.
