Networking and Advocacy
Improving situation of millions of India’s children in difficult circumstances requires an integrated effort and strong partnership of many stakeholders. Protection of child rights is not the exclusive responsibility of government or one department but inclusive of all other allied systems i.e., government departments and non government agencies. Such a networking will create a strong protective environment for children; mobilize inter-sectoral response for strengthening child protection and set standards for care and services. To strengthen work on child right protection in North Karnataka, North Karnataka Consortium on Child Rights will be formed wherein government departments, the voluntary sector, community groups and child rights experts will work together on planning, advocacy and capacity building and act as a watch-dog on the situation of children and implementation of public policies and programs aimed at children. The following will be initiated

  • Formation of North Karnataka Network on Protection of Child Rights
  • Training and meetings of the network to build capacity and convergence
  • Creating a Resource directory of the aligned services offered to children by Go and NGO sector
  • Build teams of experts on issue specific intervention.
  • Organise consultations on new legislations and issues
  • Take up advocacy for human rights and child rights promotion.
